The month command is the earthly branch of the month pillar, widely treated as the single most influential factor when judging a chart's strength and structure. Because BaZi is a solar method, the month pillar is fixed by the solar terms rather than the lunar month. The Day Master is said to "obtain the season" when the month command's season generates or matches its element.
