Accumulating hidden virtue (积阴德) is the tradition's emphasis on doing good, especially good done quietly without seeking recognition, as a factor within a person's own control. It is the conduct factor ranked fourth in the folk maxim and the subject of the "accumulating goodness" chapter of 《了凡四训》. The library reports it as a traditional value, with no suggestion that any specific deed produces any specific outcome.
